We live in a rural area, on a dirt road, and everything is pretty much kosher. Then some idiot dumps an entire glad trash bag on the road. Then of course the coyotes tear open the bag to get at the McDonald's bag, etc. Then a recliner gets dumped down a ways. Or a mattress.
Don't these idiots have any conscience? We live in a beautiful part of the country, no crime, no high COL, nothing really bad.... except a small percentage of people who like to dump garbage and mutts.
It really is bewildering to me how anyone can just pull over and dump a small home-made church pew. LOL. I kid you not. I saw a church pew on the side of the dirt road. What happened to that church pew to make them excommunicate it??!! Was it possessed?
It's so funny, it's sad!
That exact same problem happens around here, china hutches, couch's, computers.
I hate the lack of convenient public transportation. I would take public transportation all the time if it ran later, came more often, and went more places I actually go to.
I also hate the lack of things to do. I'd like more museums, night clubs, and cultural events.
An extra 250,000+ people would be nice so we can attract more concerts, businesses, etc.
Potholes. I HATE potholes. I have a street next to my house that has so many of 'em it looks like the surface of the moon!
I also hate summer....love my home, but hate the summers.
Suburban SoCal is the most boring region in the world. From about Villa Park in the west to Beaumont to the east. And with Palmdale being the furthest north and eastern Chula Vista the furthest south. (obviously not inclusive since this would have downtown LA and SD). Yet, all of the cities and towns have the same shops, the same faux Spanish theme, and the same country or Spanish pastiche street names (Sunny Ridge, Linda Vista, Terra View, Via del boring generic Vista...) Every "town center" contains a Target, Best Buy, Chili's, and a Star Bucks. Everthing closes at midnight (2 am for a true bar...not a Chili's or BJ Brewery) also you might get a citation for not having a green lawn. Sorry I had to get these things off my chest.
Also, because of the political atmosphere of the area, the populous is too eager to vote 'yes' on practically every damned levy that hits the voting ballots. Thus, the property taxes continue to spiral ~ something I'll have a great of difficulty with when I retire.
In Baltimore the biggest things are weather and crime. The winters are too long and gray....I know this is paradise compared to Minneapolis or Cleveland or Boston but its already too bad for me. I prefer a lot of warmth and sunshine and don't like dressing in layers. I'm glad I live in a nice apartment for grad school where utilities are included in the rent and I can turn up the heat and take long hot showers in the winter. Also crime is an issue. For Baltimore there is a huge difference between the city and the suburbs. The city itself has a lot of crime and is physically depressing with a lot of gray landscapes, abandoned buildings and ghettos. My favorite parts so far thoguh are the middle class and blue collar suburbs surrounding the city (I'm not talking the rich yuppie burbs filled with shallow materialistic soulless people taking their kids to SAT prep courses in their luxury sedans making a stop at Trader Joes or Starbucks or Panera on the way). But weather is just miserable. Especailly now.
