I prefer Target over walmart because it seems cleaner but it does cost more to shop there! In Baltimore we just opended our 1st one, and in Greenville county there is 3 with two more planned (both being super)!!!
If Sam Walton found a way to turn a buck....millions of them by the way, more power to him. That's the American dream. He found it.
If a vendor doesn't want to do business with them, they don't have to.
I work for a local government that deals with a number of children's programs...Walmart is ALWAYS the 1st to donate either giftcards or prizes to these programs. No little $10.00 ones either.
WalMart also was a leading factor in the $4.00 prescriptions.
If we're all totally honest, most of the items in the stores are grossly over-priced in the first place so Walmart getting them at a reduced price enables the consumer to get them at a reduced price. Which puts more money back in my pocket which puts more money in the local economy.

Chicago - 3.5 million people - 1 Walmart. Walmart is currently meeting with community organizers and local government to open more, but they're getting some push back. We have a lot of Walmarts in the suburbs.
Not sure how many metro Atlanta has, but the only one inside the city is right around the corner from me and its wonderful!!!!! There are always so many fine women of all races in there, sometimes I'd rather go to the Wal-Mart than go out to the bar. Naw just playing, well not really
