Where is your data that Detroit is more expensive than Atlanta??? You conveniently left that out. I bet it's not.
OK, see if you can follo this in the quoted portion above....
First, YOU ask if I've considered NY and LA to have fallen flat on their face.
Next, I respond and explain that I do think NY had fallen flat on its face for a couple decades and I describe my experience there in the 80's, because you asked me about NY falling flat on its face.
NEXT - you whine that I'm comparing Atlanta to NY.
If you don't want to know why I say NY fell on its face, then DON'T ASK. Capiche?
16 negative posts? I'm sure there are more from me. And I know there are many, many positive posts from me, too, which you and the other apologists conveniently ignore.
Generic means bland and plain. Atlanta is pretty generic. And as a southern city it has a lot in common w/ Charlotte. Yes, just like NY and Philly have a lot in common (and they do).
And that's just a flat-out lie. Go back and research better. Something tells me you have tunnel vision and only see anything negative that I say, even if I say something positive in the same post.
What stereotype? It's a fact that the streets are named after Robert E. Lee and others who were treasonous against the USA.
Yes. That's what an "apologist" is. Look it up.
Not a negative, just pointing out a reality, a fact. You take it as a negative, but that's your own doing.
No, not a double standard. You know what I mean but you're playing semantics. Savannah is an East Coast city - does it have more in common with NY and Boston, or with Atlanta??? How about Jacksonville - more in common w/ NY and Boston, or w/ Atlanta???
You know damn well that the legacy of the Confederate South is shared by Atlanta, Birmingham, Savannah, Charlotte, etc., not to mention the food, accents, etc. And Miami is not caribbeaan; it is culturally more tied to NY than any other city.
I worked in Perimeter Center many years, I'm well aware of the difference, and mainly it's that Buckhead has built up to try to make an "urban" core but Buckhead still has suburban, private, single-family homes with yards, driveways, etc. That's not urban, it's not really "city" - it's suburb. Perimeter Center is just more middle class and retail-oriented.
People were comparing Buckhead to Beverly Hills in that thread. Buckhead is not nearly as close to being like Beverly Hills as Palm Beach is. Then people started talking about how Buckhead was better than Beverly Hills. So apparently there are delusional Atlantans. If you want to argue that thread, go there, I'll be happy to talk about it there.
Heck no. It's DEFINITELY more tied to the Carribean. Miami has no ties to NYC, besides the rich NYC vacationers and stars. Theres not even that many NYC transplants in Miami, most of the Northern transplants live in Broward County, Palm Beach County, Southwest Florida and Orlando. MOST of Dade County is either straight out of the Carribean or native born.
Anywhere in the South except for maybe, and thats a HUGE maybe, New Orleans. For uniqueness, you have to go to the Northeast or west coast.
Miami and ATL are different. ATL and Houston are different. Houston and New Orleans are different. New Orleans and Nashville are different. Nashville and Dallas are different. Dallas and Tampa are different. Tampa and Charlotte are different. Charlotte and Orlando are different. Orlando and Raleigh are different. Raleigh and Baton Rouge are different. Baton Rouge and Savannah are different. Savannah and Memphis are different. Memphis and Charleston are different. Charleston and Shreveport are different. Shreveport and Daytona Beach are different. Daytona Beach and Birmingham are different. Birmingham and Myrtle Beach are different. Bottom line is, why is everyone saying the South is generic? And why is New Orleans a huge maybe? CLEARLY it's one of the most unique places in the US.

I'm really not trying to insult but you have to be ignorant to make statement like that.So Savannah and Charleston are not unique?St,Augustine,Williamsburg,VA?Richmond,VA?Ja ckson,MS.New Orleans would be the first place people would say was unique.Miami with its art deco? You gotta get out more man.

I was thinking the same thing. The Southern cities are VASTLY different. You can go from palm tree coastal Latin Themed cities, to Pine Woods French themed cities.

Not to someone that bitterly despises the South...but of course, that attitude affects a person's reality.
