Screw the Sierra Club! Why should people in this part of Georgia be denied economic growth because of "perceived" threats to the ecosystem that are completely unproven?

Whose side are you on in this fight, Mutiny?! No, wait ... let me guess!

But you are right: SC doesn't give a rats a** about the Savannah River ecosystem, just that Savannah's port is kicking Charleston in the gonads!

Again, my original point within the midst of all of this deflecting about ports and environmental concerns and whatever else:

At any rate, my original point still stands: only certain people from Georgia care about who's really #2 in Georgia. Practically everybody else couldn't care less.

THAT was my point. I wasn't the one who brought up the environment or the ports or whatever because I honestly couldn't care less about any of that as far as the topic at hand goes.

The largest state in the southeast, Georgia is typical of the changing South with an ever-increasing industrial development. Atlanta, largest city in the state, is the communications and transportation center for the Southeast and the area's chief distributor of goods.

I think our Southern neighbors would question that comment. It's also trending that NC will pass GA this decade, we'll see what happens there though.

I was thinking the same though they may have been speak about land mass and not population.

They would be unusual in most circumstances. In any case FL is only marginally larger in square miles, but has about 10 million more residents.

GA and NC have been neck and neck in the population race for over a century. The 1900, 1910 and 1920 censuses had Georgia over NC with NC taking a lead in 1930 and holding it through 1990, holding around a half million advantage over Georgia for much of that time (1950 - 1970). Georgia closed the gap to around 150k in 1990 and took the lead in 2000 by 136k. In 2010 Georgia had 9,687,653 people to NC's 9,535,483, so GA's lead increased slightly to around 152k.

So, if NC did overtake GA, it wouldn't be that big of a reversal, but Georgia has been gaining on NC since 1970 and overtook it in 2000 and increased its lead, even if only slightly, in the latest census, so don't know where you are getting your trending statistics.

I've been reviewing various metro trends. I don't have them available and am not going to get into a pissing contest about it. If you feel differently fine, but what I've looked at within metro trends makes the switch very possible this decade.

It's not a pissing contest, its just statistics. Would be interested in what you have seen. No need to be rude.
