But this doesn't explain why Asian women are underrepresented in mainstream American film/tv but they are overly represented in the porn industry, for example.
Why are they not considered for roles in films in which the character's racial background is unspecified/unimportant. Why haven't Asian women, who are considered by some, to be THE most desireable of all groups of women. Other races of women are represented in the Top Actress/Sexiest Actress/Top Paid Actress/etc catergories pretty much along with their representative demographics in America - why aren't Asian women represented?

Well there is a the huge Porn factor for them yes but that started more in their country vs ours and just kind of merged over.

But that does not explain why they are not considered for roles where, for example, the best friend of the main character can be of any race. They also are not included in the role of wife/girlfriend of any main characters.
I understand the submissive "stereotype" but the reality is quite different. Given the number of men in Hollywood who have Asian wives/girlfriends (in front of and behind the camera), why aren't Asian actresses being represented?
There are several films were the actress's role can be filled by a woman of any race and those parts have been filled by Black or Latin actresses (ie The Rich Man's Wife with Halle Berry, Fools Rush In with Salma Hayek, The Bodyguard with Whitney Houston, Mission Impossible II with Thandie Newton, almost ALL films with Jennifer Lopez, among others)

thank you for your honesty and being an example of american views. we know asians are not american. haha!
Even Woody Allen (who is married to an Asian women) does not include Asian characters in his films.
overall asians are a small minority and don't appeal to mainstream. i'm sure there will be more asian-americans in media in the future as later generations become more americanized.
