If Asian women are considered so desirable why no Top Movie Stars? (suspect, racist)

For the record, I don't have any "Asian" friends that refer to themselves as "Asian". Korean - yes, Chinese - yes, Tawianese - Yes, Vietnames - yes, Japanese - yes. "asian" no. There are too many trolls on this post. None of this has anything to do with the original question
On one-to-one interaction this is true but for the purpose of this thread, it's understood that the op is primarily referring to probably oriental asians more than others.
in america, most think oriental when they hear 'asian' whereas in europe it's southeast asian or indians.
This might be a dumb thing to say or maybe it's been said, but is it possible there are less notable Asian-American actresses simply because there are less Asian-Americans than there are Hispanics or Blacks? And that Asians from Asia might have a harder time with our language than say the Spanish or French as Asian languages are less like ours?
The only one I've wondered about at times is Asian American singers. Outside of Norah Jones I can't think of any and I believe she's part English. I'm not sure any Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, or Filipino American singers became mainstream hits since the song "Sukiyaki." Male or female. To the point I've heard of Asian-Americans who go to Asia to become singers. I can likely think of several American singers from ethnicities less common than those.

That's because Chinese, Korean and Japanese can tell each other apart at a glance, and to call one of them "Asian" implies that they all look the same. But Americans, who never bother to learn to tell them apart, clump them together as Asians.
Asians are "Europeans" all the way down to Burma, and there ought to be a separate word to distinguish the Caucasoid Asians and the Mongoloid Asians. We used to use "Oriental" to distinguish them, but now if you say that, you are sent away for compulsory sensitivity training and become permanently ineligible for promotion.

that's actually a fallacy that even some asians believe such as those with rivalry issues. you can't always tell because there is too much overlap. a chinese person can resemble a korean or a japanese and vice versa. it's like saying you can tell a russian girl or boy from a uk one, not always because genetically they can look exactly the same.
how anyone can tell has more to do with probably style of dress (at times), certain subtle idiosyncrasies, style etc but not always.
i used to be better able to do this but now not so much, but it was never based on physical characteristics.
With all of the threads praising Asian beauty, I was just wondering why there are virtually no Asian women topping any list of actresses: top grossing films, highest paid, sexiest, etc.
Are Lucy Liu and Sandra Oh the best offerings of sex symbols for Asian women ?
Why aren't Asian women represented more diversely in American/European film?
Strange question. I do not look to Hollywood for my standards of beauty.
In Asia, there are plenty of beautiful women and in the US, plenty of beautiful Asian-American women.
As for representation...Hollywood loves its stereotypes and has decided that "going Asian" other than for cartoonish or fantasy characters will not have appeal. One would think that Harold & Kumar woke them up, but perhaps not.
Hollywood is as racist as they come, save for slights against Jews or Israel. Sad but true. Looking back at TV shows in the 60s when I was a kid--the portrayals back then of Blacks, Native Americans, Hispanics, Arabs, and Asians are really hard to watch now. They represent the worst of stereotypes.
Not much progress save for more skin and more money.

I think you're confusing "desire" with "fantasy." Asian women are desirable in a sexual manner, at least that's what some guys and porn sites lead you to believe.
I'll let you in on a little secret, Asian women aren't considered more desirable at all. The reason why some guys seem more drawn to them is because they know that asian women are far easier especially if you're a white male. Thats why so many white losers head over to Asia to become some bogus English teacher, they can't get girls in their own countries but in Asia they know they'll be superstars.

I think you are a fraud. I have never heard an Asian person call themseleves oriental. Never. That is highly offensive and makes everything you have spewed suspect.
Oriental refers to inanimate objects - furniture, rugs etc. Human beings are Asian.

lol. i'm a little pragmatic and i was being a little lazy. i decided i would use that to make a concise point rather than write out ad nauseum-china, korea and japan though i should have just wrote northeast asians. the term asian is so broad to lose it's meaning actually.
