Krystal has entered and exited the market a few times. Isn’t Tennessee its home base, so perhaps it has more recognition there? Kind of like Belk and Harris Teeter in Atlanta: a hometown favorite can struggle in a market where customers already have entrenched preferences, I’d guess.

It's Royal Castle for this ex-Floridian...sadly, they too are long gone. I loved their birch beer!

I seriously doubt White Castle will ever enter this market. Will have to keep enjoying the frozen ones from the grocery store. I have even seen the frozen 2-pack ones in some Dollar Tree stores.

Krystal was HQ'd in Chattanooga originally I believe and now moved to Atlanta.

correct...I was living in Chattanooga when they moved to ATL...this was about 10 year ago
I actually witnessed the "Krystal Square Off" where Joey Chestnut consumed 103 Krystals in 2007

I ate at the one on Woodruff once.. That was enough for me. Don't know if that was just a bad one or I'm just not a fan of Krystal.. but.. Not shedding any tears that they're gone.

As with everything I am sure there are some that didn't like it. Krystal and White Castle still seem to have a huge cult like following.

I think they made a huge mistake here not keeping the drive-thru window open overnight for the late night party crowd. When I lived in Knoxville the line would be around the building at 2 or 3 in the morning for sacks of Krystal's sliders although it is a huge university town. One of the few choices you have here is Waffle House for late night partiers and workers.

If I recall correctly they had a deal with Spinx a few years back to go in Spinx locations. I remember them saying they wanted locations close to Downtown too for the late night crowd.

Krystal's is only good after you have had several drinks. Their food is disgusting otherwise.

It helps to open more than one location.

Anyone care to speculate what will go there? I think that spot won't stay empty long.

If I had to guess, I would say either a car wash or a storage facility.
