The Belk in Simpsonville was terrible last time I went. Just junk city and a total wreck of a mess. Might as well turn it into one of those Belk Clearance centers. In contrast I went into a small Belk Store near Wilmington NC in Shallotte NC in November and it was very nice and the way it used to be. Gave me the impression they are very uneven right now in how their stores are run.
In terms of escalators -all of the escalators in JCP, Belk and Macy's at Haywood are approaching 45 years old and constantly being worked on. In the last mall renovation the old mall ones in center court were removed and new mall escalators replaced the stairs in front of Sears and JCP

That is funny. My wife and I were talking about how Belk has become the new Kmart, not well lit, poor selection and dirty. We will never go back to Belk.
I had the opposite experience at Belk and Macys at Haywood Mall. The Belk seemed nicer, brighter, and much better decorated for Christmas. And an overall better selection of designer labels, as well as the in house store brands seemed to offer more. At Macy's I did purchase an INC sweater, but at Belk I bought items from Ralph Lauren Polo, Izod, Weatherproof Vintage, Zelos and Saddlebred. Plus for gifts I purchased Southern Tide and Vineyard Vines. And when I was in Charlotte, the SouthPark Belk was overall more impressive than the Macys there.
But I do agree that Belk has seen a decline in quality control at some locations since the sale by the founding namesake family. But I had a good experience at the Haywood and SouthPark locations. Macy's just seemed a bit off this year. And it could be said they have declined a bit since the conversion of legacy nameplates such as Rich's and Hecht's as a result of the merger of Federated and May Co. stores.
Capri's Italian coming to Pelham Rd on January 8th in the former 4 Ace's. This marks their return to Greenville and more locations could be on the way according to the article.

Homesense for the former Bed Bath and Beyond, Sierra for the former Buy Buy Baby and PGA Superstore for the former Christmas Tree Shops on Woodruff Rd.
Super Chix now open in Boiling Springs in the new Publix Shopping center. I got tenders there yesterday with cole slaw and it was really good. Jealous -been wanting one of those in Greenville or Simpsonville. The atmosphere reminded me of the chicken version of Five Guys. Love that you can get breaded or grilled chicken tenders.

Sounds good, will have to check them out. Wonder if we will also get a Slim Chickens in the Upstate. I hear the Fort Mill location is good, but have not tried it yet.

Interesting that it reminds you of Five Guys. The current CEO was a multiple Five Guy franchisee before taking over. The concept was begun by KFC parent Yum Brands to be a "Chick-fil-a Killer". Yum sold the brand to the current investment group run by the aforementioned CEO.
