Thats not the way I remember Lone Star. The bar was on the right as you walked in, and I dont remember it being elevated. Dont remember the peanuts either, but maybe they cahnged it at some poijnt I dont recall. And I agree, I miss it too! And JJrs!
I remember it more like this pic in the early 90's and I could be wrong but seems like there was a step or two up to the bar area. I moved away in the later 90's so maybe it was remodeled. This review does mention the peanut shells on the floor at one point in time. T-Bonz on Laurens Rd @ Woodruff had a bar on the right if memory serves correctly.

This is how I remember the one on Congaree. Entry near the middle of the bulding, long bar on the right as you walk in. Waitresses use to sit up on the rail there and sing along to the ending of You never even called me by my name when it played.
I don't think I ever ate at J Jrs off Congaree. Same owner Jimmy Rogers as Fatz Cafe wasn't it? Both JJrs Filling stations (GVL, SPA) converted to Fatz.
I believe it was actually T-Bones Steakhouse and not T-Bonz (different chain) on Laurens Rd where Bojangles sits now on the corner at Woodruff Rd. Does anyone remember it? Seems like they had a second location in Athens Ga that was the same group.
Found this commercial for the Athens one with legendary Univ. Of Georgia radio announcer Larry Munson.
Gotcha. Haven't been to the Eastside of Spartanburg in a minute. I remember when Hillcrest was mainly an enclosed mall anchored by Belk and Ivey's and it had a Continental Cafe in the main mall entrance. Ahhh the late 80's. Good times.
I haven't had a chance to go myself, but I've had a number of friends tell me that it's a bit on the pricier side, but fantastic and worth the cost.
