I knew they were opening soon, but just went into the new store in downtown Anderson, 'Alchemy Books and Cafe' and it's wonderful! It's a small but very cozy area right there as you get to the side of downtown that hasn't kicked off yet. There's free wifi and a very good selection of books for a store it's size to chose from and you can sit down for a drink, snack, or meal...and all of it is an extremely reasonable price, and best of all, completely organic (even the water was filtered through some sort of special system they had put in). The owners were also extremely nice. I didn't realize what their hours were, but they didn't mind at all that we were there almost an hour after closing.
It's places like this that make me really want them to step up their game on downtown.
Nice addition to downtown Anderson! Hope it is a success.
I drove by the old Brioso location on North Pleasantburg yesterday, and I noticed that the "For Lease" signs were no longer on the door. Does anyone know if the space has been filled again?
Bimini's Oyster Bar & Seafood Cafe which is based out of Myrtle Beach will be opening soon in Greenville as well. Location TBD...possibly on Villa Road near Haywood/Pelham Roads interchange. Also now hiring.
Is located on Villa Rd "under the water tower" as they say. Ate there last night and enjoyed the food (calabash shrimp and fried grouper), but the A/C could not keep up and it was pretty miserable. Owner said new units will be put in next week to remedy this problem, so I will most likely go back after that.
Midtown Artery is relocating to the former Rocks 'n' Ropes building on South Main Street in the West End. The upscale international art gallery has been located on South Main Street in the West End Historic District since April 2008. This "new" location will give the gallery more space and better visibility in an attractive historic structure.
A clothing and accessories store with roots in Savannah, Ga, is planning to open in the South Main Street space vacated by Midtown Artery.
