Certain models of the Taurus Judge are chambered for the 3" .410. The S & W only chambers 2 1/2" shells. That's the critical issue, particularly with 000 Buck, the only appropriate load for general carry.

The Governor is designed to fire .410, .45 LC and .45 ACP. That's all three. The Judge will only shoot .410 and .45 LC. The Governor is six shots while the Judge is five. You get an extra round. I'll take the proven heavier ball. BB is for hunting; Buck is for man killing.

That's a choice of five shots of five for twenty-five separate projectiles or six shots of three for a total of eighteen. It's an interesting question.
My inclination is to take five more powerful loads.

I'm partial to the S&W myself. It has a factory night sight, is smaller, lighter weight, better grips and practically "O" endshake on the forcing cone to cylinder fit. Pick your poison and what your budget allows. When the Governor is on sale, it's not too far apart.

Yep...8 shot tube. Bought it new for $125. It lives under my bed.
The H&R Topper was $48 new, plus $10 to shorten the bbl to 19" and put the bead sight on it. It was my truck gun when I still had a pickup, so now it resides in the closet next to the computer work station.

I thought so. That was probably the highest quality, cheapest shotgun out. K-Mart and WAL-MART sold a ton of them. Most of which were under $200. I wish I still had one! I haven't seen one in years! Nice piece!

You gotta be careful. After firing a few thousand rounds through them the cocking spring sear gets worn and will allow the hammer to fall when cocking.
