Right after 9/11, a carpenter guy I know was vacationing in Hawaii. He hired a fishing tour boat and was horrified to see that there were Iranians on the boat. "Iranians with money- trying to sneak into the U.S.!"
I have news for you....there are "Iranians" living in the US legally and paying taxes....I doubt your carpenter guy buddy asked them if they are trying to sneak into the US....stop hating dude...life is miserable enough without you....very junior!!!
5 months in and it still feels like another country at times, albeit a melting pot. I work in a cubicle 3 feet from the most colorfully speaking local. He's highly animated and we all get such a kick out of his tirades on the phone. Too funny!
I feel sorry for the older people who have watched Oahu change over their life's time.
An eye opener was this E-bay message when a friend in NY sold an item to a Hawaiian address:
