I Just humbly would like to stop here for a minute and kind of answer a question that is often floating or brought up in posts? What is HbH doing with his threads? What does culture and youtube links have to do with a moving Forum?
Well the ideal of looking at Hawai'is culture is my way of helping the transplant in multiple ways. With understanding how different Hawai'i is from your hometown in Indiana, by not only reading the words that are type from people who have lived or still live in Hawai'i, with this tread you can also see a before move look at how different it is also.
My other hope was maybe like myself and others, that you who are thinking of moving would fall in love with Hawai'i as much as some of us have.
Further, and for those who have been away from home, maybe a reminder to help remember home?
I use youtube alot, the intention is to help, sometimes the link/s say it far better then i could in my own words.
By no means am i an expert in Hawai'ian, Hawai'i culture, in fact on a daily basis i learn new things from older locals and ppl who have lived longer in Hawai'i etc.
In conclution please feel free to comment on something you liked or feel free to post if you want? Mahalo for your time.
Aloha, if you have never had a shave ice then your missing out, so much different then snow cones. Hawai'i has so many ono(good) grindz(food) its amazing. Id say da shave ice is a staple. Heres a clip about shave ice and a favorite spot Matsomutos. I heard rumors that they closed or are closing. But never fear there will be shave ice for you when you visit or move. Aloha.

I know it's probably sacrilegious, but I thought Matsomutos was a little over rated. There was a little shop in Haleiwa that sold shave ice in the side shop that I actually thought was better (especially with sweetened condensed milk!). What Matsomutos bas going for it is the wide variety of flavor options you have there. My personal opinion.

Aloha, no problem you have a right to your opinion. Everyone has there own favorite place. Oh by the way welcome and mahalo for your opinion and post.
Aloha we haven't had any music for awhile now. One thing i have always loved about Hawai'i is the unique mix from old traditional Hawai'ian music to the more modern local bands. Its all good and a wonderful part of Hawai'i culture.
Im sure you have your favorites too, your free to post them if you like too?
