I'm betting it's not allergies, but for your sake I hope the doc is right.
im betting my sinus are damaged. Ive never really had any allergies. I will find out soon enough. The pain I can deal with, its the dizziness thats disrupting my daily life and causing anxiety (which in turns causes more dizziness).
1000mg amox/day is keeping syptoms at bay but improvement is slow. Some days I feel really harsh symptoms like I have just started treatment. I am upping it to 1500 mg 2x/day. I think this is week 5 come Monday.
I have found that amoxicillin does not work on sinusitis or any infection for that matter. What about taking levaquin, biaxin or z-pack? My mom has chronic sinusitis for many years. She actually had sinus surgery to remove polyps in her nose and they found she had a deviated septum as well. The surgery did not last long maybe a few years W/O sinus infections. But because of her chronic sinus problem she has very little taste and smell.

Amoxicillin is a poor choice to treat a sinus infection. (I don't care if your doctor recommended it) Most of what you say is correct. Levaquin is a good choice. Other drugs that make sense are Augmentin ( a blend of amoxicillin and clavicin). Cephalosporins are a good class of antibiotics for sinus infections. Cephalexin is good. Z-pack will work for a minor sinus infection, but ordinarily is not effective--in my experience--for tougher ones.
The key though is trying to prevent them. Nasal rinses and even steroids to keep your sinuses open all should be tried before you got to antibiotics.
Can I buy it on the internet without a script? I'm betting no.
