Rothbear, having had that back surgery 1 1/2 years ago, I can no longer bend. I've given up shaving legs but have found elastic laces on-line & so just slip into my tennis shoes. I have a reacher for anything I may drop. I've gotten quite good at pilates, although it took a long time & yes, it's the pits but you have to work with what you've got. I used to be angry but now celebrate every accomplishment.

Cc- didn't they give spasm pills to your dh? I very seldom use them but they sure do help when my back spasms, mostly when I overdo. My sciatic nerve was pinched for two years & sometimes it is extremely painful & spasms. That's when I take the pills.

meo, he hasn't seen a real doctor. I got him to go to the chiropractor but he is just getting over pneumonia and hasn't gome in months.

I have some homeopathic stuff that he takes. I never knew there was something that would actually treat sciatic pain, all the docs say that even morphine won't help. PLEASE tell me the name of the drug for spasms.

We can't get quinine anymore because they deemed it harmful. The homeopathic leg cramp meds have so little of it you have to take six at a time for it to work.

Tizanidine HCL 2mg. It just says 1 tablet every 6 hours as needed for spasms.

I also take gabapentin for nerve pain & tramadol for pain.

CC: I have to take the NSAID if I want real pain control. Today I was out and about all day and took 2 tylenol followed by one aleve. I try not to take the Aleve because of barrets esophogas , a pre cancer thing I got a couple years ago. But there are times when nothing but an nsaid for inflammation is helping, so I down it.

Thx, Barb, he pretty much lives on Aleve. Glad to hear you are out and about, though! Are you staying put due to an upcoming grandchild?

Ho Ho Ho !!! That is the magic question. IF she can get pregnant, and IF I decide I cannot sell the house, and IF I want to be stuck here in the desert the rest of my life, then maybe yes. Way too many ifs right now. Just taking one day at a time.

Living on Aleve can seriously damage your esophagas, your intestines and no one should take it that often. A diagnosis of esophageal cancer is not a happy place to be in.

CCc..........This is what I have been taking for years for my back spasms, except I take 4mg only at night. Works well. I also take tramadol in the AM. I've also been taking naproxin for years as well. 500mg twice a day. I have blood tests twice a year, but wondering if I should try something else. I actually take Bayer Back and Body every now and then and they seem to work.

Need to get new doctors soon up here and maybe they will change up things. We shall see.

Rothbear, I'm with you. Trying to cut back on medications & will see what happens. The last two times i really exerted myself, I slept into the afternoon. But, at least things got done. I may try that back & body. My annual Dr visit is due soon, & I'll discuss it with my doctor.
