I just heard a public TV ad saying that they don't stop you from getting COVID. But now CDC is considering telling the truth. If they don't work why do docs and nurses wear them? duh - of course they work.

Got some el cheapo dust masks from Dollar Tree a while back as a joke when this stuff was hitting China (no more joke)...wonder if they will work? Only have a few other "better" masks although not N95. Will definitely wear some type of mask when in public...even if homemade or a bandana/scarf. Everybody in public wears them in Asia and you are fined if you don't as well...

Yes, at the briefing yesterday Pres Trump said they are studying the possibility but also added no decision has been made at this time. We may all be jumping to conclusions. There isn't much else going on right now so everyday it is something new about COVID19. If it does become a policy where are we going to get all those masks and who is going to pay for them?

Pleas don't listen to anything Trump has to say about this virus. Fauci yes. Cuomo yes. Trump NO.

I've been using the hardware store dust masks regardless of whether anyone or any entity says I should. I figure the mask will at least protect me from a direct hit from someone's spittle. Sometimes we just have to do what feels right for ourselves and ignore all the static around us.

I use gloves, too, and have for a long time due to another unrelated condition with my hands. Now I blend right in, for once.

All we can do is the best we can do.

Dr. Fauci and Dr. Birx are my heroes. They're the only ones I truly take seriously on this matter.

I went to the hardware stores a couple of weeks ago, and they were all cleaned out, and wouldn't get more for quite awhile, they said. I think as soon as the pharmacies ran out of masks, everyone ran to the hardware stores next.

Nobody has them, this is the problem. The people I see in public with them must have bought them early on like nearly a month ago.

The ones on Amazon get poor reviews. The general gist is, that they're cheap Chinese ones that tear or are otherwise poorly made. And a few get good reviews, but when you read the reviews, it's obvious that the Chinese vendors are writing the reviews, because the grammar is off, LOL! I've read reviews, that say the Chinese are trying to off-load old supplies that are on the cusp of their expiration date, so the hand sanitizer loses its effectiveness after the sell-by date, the elastic on the masks breaks, and so forth.

I've had mine for several months, certainly before the current situation arose. I got them to wear when I'm using cleaning products around the house, which means nearly every cleaning product as they all make me sneeze and cough, no matter how they benign they are to everyone else. So far they're in good shape but I'm being judicious in their use. I only have seven left and I know I'll have a hard time finding any more. I'm going to use a bandanna around the house and save the real masks just for my fortnightly hunting and gathering expeditions to the grocery stores. Hopefully the bandanna will do the job well enough.
