I think it's too late for that. I suspect it's why they told healthy people not to wear them in the first place. Actual medical personnel are already having trouble getting them; once the public starts stocking up even more than they are now, it's going to be even more of a disaster than it is now.

It's not just about vanity, I just have never worn a big white face mask out in public.

When I first saw a few people wearing them out, I thought to myself that they were the ones that had the corona virus.
If everyone was doing it, no.

The bigger problem is that in American society (not sure about others in the West), in popular culture masks are usually reserved for those who are up to no good... when you think of someone wearing a mask, who is it? Robbers and the like. The cultural conditioning that "mask = bad guy" is part of the reason people are so resistant to the idea, where Asians are more likely to take it in stride because a mask is... just a thing some people wear for a multitude of reasons. (And, being unused to people in masks, we're also weirded out by not being able to see a person's entire face. In the end, it doesn't really matter, but, people seem to just like to be able to *know* things about other people... the reason some are so uncomfortable if they can't easily and quickly tell a person's gender, race, etc. It can be a bit disconcerting at first if you tend to use a smile as communication and then realize too late that the other person couldn't see it...)

Many people don't have masks I just saw an auction on eBay for pack of 10 3M 8511 N95 bid up to $765.00. I happened to have two of them in my garage I used for sanding wood.

The ones who are not dying faster are spreading it around not just obese people who die either. There is no pattern who gets the severe and who gets minor illness. I know someone who is 300 lbs he only got fever and cough for about a week. His immune system was able to fight it off easily. Could be DNA just like some people are immune to HIV. If you do get the severe version and you have health issues yes can turn out worse.

Yes, me, too. It was very warm, I couldn’t be heard, it was itchy and was glad to get outside to get fresh air. Still, I am grateful that we had some on hand plus surgical gloves for cleaning cat box.

Oops, you have apparently not heard of the obesity survival paradox regarding pneumonia? Sorry Slim; while me & my fat @ss might catch a pneumonia causing virus quicker than you?

You are actually more likely to die from it.

We can't get masks now, can we? So we're supposed to wear scarves like banditos?
That is my understanding. Our mayor even went on to say don't buy medical grade mask just to protect yourself because the heroes on the front lines need them and the rest of us need to be as brave as they are. Especially since we run a lower risk. But when you are at the market and in the social distance 6 foot line please, please wear your cowboy scarfs and second line gear.

.
My customers with family in Asia were getting boxes of mask express mailed to them. At least that is what the customs declaration said they were.

Well then, you better hope you get pneumonia and not Covid. I just saw a doctor on the tube saying American obesity is contributing to more younger people dying from it in the US.

Thanks for clearing that up. But we can't get either kind, now, anyway. So.... I guess I'll see if I have some lovely scarves to use? I can't imagine a silky scarf staying put. They're pretty slippery.

Well, I have some bandanas I use for my dog. They're cotton. I guess I could use those.
