Can you name ONE communist country that was socially redeeming??
Tito in Yugoslavia was considered by many as a benevolent communist dictator. For the average person their standard of living improved, they had some freedom.
Communism is a very broad church, founded on an idealistic manifesto about inclusiveness and sharing. It wasn't practical, but people liked it, a lot. Many still do. The regimes we hear about are people pouncing on that manifesto and waving it about as (poor) justification for their totalitarian thuggery.
Usually something along the lines of 'we can only ensure people get what they need by pointing guns at them and killing/reeducating the unworthy'.
Somebody could do the same with the US constitution if they wanted. Both philosophies are just pieces of paper.
Nazism, as a philosophy, is a melange of racism, economic protectionism, military worship and quasi-paganism. Unlike Marx's manifesto, it's horrid, prima facie.
It's also worth noting that communist dictatorships are no worse than the 'property-rights' dictatorships of the right: Spain under Franco, Pinochet in Chile and a bunch of others. They're all bloodthirsty regimes that pick just enough winners to keep an inner circle of thugs in power. But Western countries propped these up, because 'property-rights', as opposed to 'communism'. Pretty disgusting, frankly.
They were first to launch anti smoking campaigns. They built the autobahn and gave us VW as an auto manufacturer. The v2 rocket and many former nazi scientists helped pave the way for space travel and trip to the moon.
Marxism came about in response as a reaction to the ills of Capitalism in which natural resources tended to concentrate into a few hands at the top. Business and Industry in the quest to maximize profits and increase market share for the benefit of the few people at the top tended to evolve unto Monopolies and Oligopolies in which companies would collude to keep prices excessively high for consumers (medical monopolies and healthcare). Exploitation of low skill workers ( Service and Manufacturing) in the the race to the bottom to maximize productivity and increase profit margins in which the workers would share very little of. Slavery is the ultimate form of Capitalism in which the worker receives no wage for his work being legally enslaved to another individual.
Capitalist nations become Imperialistic in which wars are fought in the competition for natural resources and new markets for the home nation products. WWI was the natural result over the competition and access to resources in colonies for the home nations among the participants. . Same thing in WWII in which Germany and Japan wanted land and natural resources for their citizens and industries. Today the wars in he Middle East are not wars for freedom and democracy but for natural resources, witness the most undemocratic country in the region of Saudi Arabia is main key ally of the USA.
Marx theorized that under Socialism progressing to Communism the people would control the natural resources in which they could collectively share the benefits of devoid of rent seeking individuals seeking to get rich by charging people for access to natural resources such as land and water.
You're mixing two things my admiration or feelings which are highly subjective and scientific achievement which are fact. People can be evil and achieve positive substantial outcomes the two are not mutually exclusive. Just like good people can sit on the couch and xbox for life.
It is of fact the the nazi v2 and rocket program laid the foundation for NASA and later missions and technological development. 1 was using the technology for "evil" the other for exploration. The usage does not change the output.
The fact that GDP per capita in the USSR was less than half of what it was in capitalist systems tells the rest of the story.
All economic data emanating from communist countries is fabricanted by the Ministry of Economy. No independent observers are allowed. When some foreign "observer" visits the country, always from some "friendly country" or from communist parties in the west, very progressive media, etc....they are taken to model schools, model factories, model neighbourhoods, etc.
History is also false, manipulated, non convenient personalities, say Trosky, are deleted from history, as Romans did. The Soviet Enciclopedia was ammended so many times that it was impossible to read.
No independent media, the pravda never said the truth and izvestia was against freedom.
It was not a communist revolution at all, it was originally a peasant revolution against Russian Tzars that treated peasants as slaves, as their English cousins told the Tzar..."you must treat well your subjects"...and he answered..."here in Russia everything is different".
Lenin arrived at the middle of an insurrection in which bolsheviks had little command, a revolution that was being channeled by the Duma and menchevik and socialdemocratic elements...that were massacred by bolsheviks.
