It was definitely messed up and uncalled for... but like the player said, what else do you expect when you are a black man playing HOCKEY?
Play basketball, football, or baseball if you dont wanna deal with that stuff. It's his choice to play hockey. No one is making him... A black person shouldn't play Hockey, Lacrosse, Golf, Tennis, or Race Cars and not expect some type of racist razzing.
And if you think otherwise you are fooling yourselves and don't understand how race is still a factor in the World.
yeah that was an unfortunate thing with the gay slur and and death threat to Claude Giroux. On to the banana throwing, it is a little discouraging for for a black hockey fan like myself but I know most fans aren't like that.
i would like Simmonds except for the fact that he played for the Kings maybe in a couple seasons I can get over that

He threw a projectile object onto the field of play though, similar to a battery, a bottle of beer, etc. He should be dealt with accordingly.
The banana itself as a racial connotation.... we'll never know what was in his heart when he threw it, but I am inclined to believe he knew what he was doing. As it stands, he should be charged to the fullest extent possible.
I am taking my kids to the Cardinals-Giants game on Sunday, and am fearful to do so because of rabble like this.

When I see a noose, I think of the a wild west sheriff hanging an outlaw, not hate crimes against blacks,
