I love the re-use aspect of this, and it's for sure a clever frugal solution. The steps seem a bit too for apart though.

Agree the steps are too far. If walking carefully they are OK, but to be safe, and to make them stronger, I plan to fill the gaps with some 2x4, so they will be very strong. 2x4s are higher than the planks and will also create ridges for more traction.

Actually, the opposite is true, the different heights will create stub/trip issues, not ridges. I would use repurposed pieces from other pallets which already have that raw/rough finish and would be the same thickness.

I really like this idea.... I may do this to my pallet walkway. Gonna be very secure to step on where there is a 45 degree slope (certain spots on my trail).
