I have a neighbor that hates crapes for the same reason as mentioned and I do understand it. However and especially on long gravel drives, the appearance of their residue is not really prominent. Also, to me, it is just another “change of seasons” experience, that I really enjoy in nature.

Possibly some species of Podocarpus that thrives in your climate zone. They are evergreen. Perhaps you could intersperse with some flowering trees or plants.
