Good for you if that works for you.

Actually, if you pay attention, you can have decent surf in Texas. I'm guessing you go to Galveston in the summer when surf is at its absolute worst. If you watch the weather and surf reports in spring and winter, you can get some nice 4 and 5 footers. It's fairly rare to get any barrels, but it does happen.

The key to surfing Galveston is being able to go at the drop of a hat.

I used to go ride standup jet skis down at Crystal beach. There were a couple of times in Spring, where I just couldn't go out because the surf was approaching 5 feet.

Do you surf?

Very true, but they remain swells for the most part without breaking.

But on a longboard, you can ride for an eternity.

It works for a lot of people who enjoy doing it. The owner of Top Water restaurant in San Leon lives on the bay and spots the approaching ships with his telescope before heading out on his boat.

It seems this surf park in Austin will be a lot more consistent than the Gulf. It remains to be seen if it will be a success, but it is the first surf park in the US so quite impressive, especially that Austin is the one that had the vision to do this.

That surf park in Austin looks insane. For the size, it's unbeatable.

You know exactly where to be, exactly what the size and shape of the wave is and you'll be the only person in the lineup for it.

I think it's amazing, and I think Austin does a better job of attracting cool stuff.

I was merely correcting bad information about Galveston. I was not taking away anything from Austin or their surf park.

No, one man with a vision went on with his thoughts, despite criticism. He just happened to be in Austin.

But the fact is that Austin is attracting these types of visionary people, not Houston.
