Wow even Ft. Worth and Dallas combined, Houston's murder count is higher.

Even though Dallas has a higher rate, where the difference comes overall for both metros is the unincorporated areas in Houston vs the incorporated DFW suburbs. The unincorporated Houston areas have higher crime, especially violent crime and homicides.

Actually, USC’s numbers are right, Houston has a slightly higher rate. In 2020, Dallas slightly had a higher rate than Houston.

If you combine Fort Worth and Dallas population, Houston’s population is still higher that’s why using that information alone didn’t add up. But you summed it up well. DFW isn’t free of violent suburbs, but there are more suburbs in Houston than there are in DFW. Particularly, the unincorporated ones (excluding The Woodlands, Cinco Ranch, etc).

Obviously, Fort Worth is muuuuuch safer than Houston and Dallas.

Yet more unsubstantiated allegations that Houston's suburbs are somehow worse and more crime-ridden than other cities' like DFW's. Prove it.

Houston must have had a lot happen recently. Dallas is actually at 169 and has about 13 per 100k and Houston at 14.9 per 100k. Fort Worth is under 10 per 100k.

What other cities? They arent unsubstantiated claims and it's been this way for a while between Houston and DFW. It's easier to get numbers for DFW since more hard lines are drawn. Since its more difficult for Houston area numbers we have to wait until the fbi finishds compiling their lists. The latest where they have both is 2018: https://ucr.fbi.gov/crime-in-the-u.s...tables/table-6

Not exactly breaking news

Different cities release different data at different times so it’s possible that these numbers aren’t date for date.

Yes this is a common theme in the homicide thread in the city vs city section. I only said that because last I checked Dallas had the higher rate but they are usually pretty close. I know on the post you just deleted you were talking about combining Dallas and FW together but damn Houston still has more even when you do that. Think this stems from FW becoming safer.

Actually it's Dallas that got a lot safer over the past year. FW is getting worse but still below the other major cities by rate. Austin is doing particularly bad with the highest increase but Houston leading the pack with the worst rate: https://thetexan.news/austin-houston...iggest-cities/
