Well that's reassuring.

You mean releasing criminals back into the public results in more crime? I am shocked! Shocked I say!

Man, I am so over this city. I live in what used to be a good area near the Galleria. Now we hear gunshots almost every other night. It's so sad to have seen Houston deteriorate from a really great city to this.

The main question in this thread should be, how is Houston doing YOY? Anyone can go to any thread in any big city and post links about people being killed because it happens everywhere. Is violent crime increasing, is it steady, or is it slowing down? What are the trends relative to other big cities in the US? If they are different, what are we doing differently? At this stage, if violent crime has not come down, it is not the fault of lenient bail. That was done away with in April:

There seems to be a lot of misunderstanding of bail reform in Houston. I have been trying to educate myself on the issue in order to understand it better. This article is helpful. Here's a quote:

"But the court monitors and county researchers said there is no indication the local crime trend is linked to the county’s bail reforms, which so far have only focused on misdemeanor cases."

It seems it only applied to misdemeanor offenses. Individual judges might be releasing people accused of felonies... I don't know how that works or who is doing it. But connecting that to bail reform seems false.
