That is Alexandra del Moral Mealer's major priority.

However IMHO, if Trump decides to announce pre-midterm it would be a stupidly foolish selfish egotistical move that will totally screw over his own party in the midterms by igniting the Dem base and keep Dems and their soft on crime and soft on inflation policies in place, hurting this country and its innocent hardworking people.
Crime in America seems to be one of those back and forth issues. We go tough on crime; entire communities get ripped apart causing "more crime." Budgets go up because now you must house and feed all the new inmates. If you go quote "soft on crime” the moment it appears there is an uptick in crime people start back screaming lock them up and throw away the key thus starting the cycle all over again. America's crime problems stem from a combination of bad culture and easy access to weapons. So long as those two exist it seems we will forever be caught up in this cycle.

To the OP point the poll numbers are kind of par the course for this period in an election cycle. There could be an upset, but with the issue of abortion breathing some life into the democrat base, expect those numbers to change.

You will need to change state law. The problem is the abundance of unincorporated areas. All these subdivision were supposed to be annexed by Houston.

Kingwood stopped that. And the ETJ rule that said the city could annex and tax but provide no services for 2 years.

I just read some about it,
Ridiculous that all counties have to have 4 commissioner precints
I’m sure it works great for a county of 20,000 people
Not so much for a county of 6 million people

Just what do you think the County Judge can do about bail? The County Judge of Harris County does not have any role in the County criminal courts. That's up to the judges in the courts.

If you want more law enforcement in the unincorporated areas of Harris County(HCSO does not patrol in the incorporated areas of Houston, Baytown, etc.), be prepared for a tax increase.

County Commissioner precincts are set by the Texas Constitution. It would require an act of the Legislature and a vote by rest of us to change the number from 4.

We have to stop releasing violent repeat offenders out on bail. That is a very serious problem. Maybe the offenders need serious professional mental help and rehab, but on the streets they are dangerous to society, and innocent people are getting seriously hurt, robbed, or killed.

The county judge is the administrator for the county.

The courts are another thing altogether. The commissioners court does funding. And they along with other agencies did try to get bail bondsmen to require 10% for bail. Some were changing less than 5% and letting the accused pay it out over time.

Lina Hidalgo does not set bail. She is not a criminal court judge. County Judge is the CEO for the County. In some smaller counties, the County Judge also hears legal cases, but that's not true in Harris County.

The best thing that can happen to the GOP is when Trump gets indicted. I wouldn't be surprised though if the DOJ holds off indictment until the GOP primaries start ramping up in the latter part of 2023. Timing is everything.

She has a vote on the commissioners court and she is pushing this defunding of the police agenda. Quit trying to minimize her influence on the situation.

Typical increase the tax fear monger. How about working with the budget you already have instead of stealing tax payers money and putting it in you friends pockets
