Noticed today that the ACF site has a Property Available sign on it now! That's at least a step in the right direction!

Makes me curious...they know that the city wants that property badly. So what's the point of putting a property available sign up?

That's good news! Is there an associated real estate company?

My guess is one of two things. Either they are only selling part of the property or they are trying to leverage other bids to drive the price up to try to get the city to pay more. There was a company listed but it was dark and I couldn't see it. Hopefully there's a site we can access to see the asking price.

I just went to Kroger so I drove past the ACF property. It's marketed by CBRE and the agent is DeWitt Blundon. I checked their site and it isn't listed on it, so I don't have any more details, unfortunately.

This is a persistent problem for all economic development projects in our area; it really does reveal how subpar our local media performs in investigative reporting. One can only hope that they will ever start taking pride in such developments and engaging the community to generate excitement among citizens. BTW, we have not seen one single report yet on the proposed compound facility at the Byrd Clinical Center site and the deadline for the RFQ submissions are next week. They (the media) could at least present the information to the public and let them know that such a large scale project is in the works, to again, generate community excitement and give a sense of progress being made in the community. It is pathetic. Ending rant now.

One interesting point they made in the article was regarding the construction of the box culvert to manage storm water on the property, in which the Mayor stated would "create about 105,000 more square feet for the development." I would assume that the additional space that would be available for development would be the western most portion of the property, which in the current site plan is devoid of any development. I would also note that the site plan illustrated in the HD today is somewhat different than the current one on the Tanyard Station website.

I am also happy to hear that there will be $6 million in upgrades to the roadways around the new development. The Mayor mentions plans to ultimately upgrade to four-lanes from that section of US 60 all the way to the mall, which would be great.

On another note, I noticed a sign for nearly 2 acres of available property next to Steak and Shake. I would imagine this would be prime property and not sure if it will be on the market for too long.

I agree about expanding Rt. 60 to four lanes but I would be concerned about the amount of space to do that because between the Main St. underpass and the Fellowship Baptist Church area, there isn't much room between the railroad tracks and the Mud River to allow for another lane and shoulder areas. I know that the railroad will be concerned about cutting into the hillside below their tracks and then you have to worry about possible erosion from the river on the other side.
