A sidewalk? Seriously? To where? Will the sidewalk extend to the sidewalk at Brownsferry? Will the sidewalk extend to West Madison or even to Gillespie? Or will it be a 20' long sidewalk in front of the bridge? My bet is on the latter.
I don't live in Madison but I am pretty familiar with that particular area and I would imagine you are correct.

Mcalla can't build enough houses for the new workers at Mercedes. Talledega is now part of the CSA because of auto jobs among others. Both the city and county have reversed pop declines in the 2012 census and the metro counties have all absorbed the decline as well as the 15,000 in-migration each year. Our metro pop is up 300,000 in just this century so far. Very healthy and sustained growth which is bringing great old neighborhoods back with polish in the city to go along with the already great southside residential areas. Massive new area like Ross Bridge opening up new areas of the county just as I-22 has already begun to do. New business coming and growing and media accolades for the past two years for the changes paying off in times that have not helped.
Projects coming on line all over the metro and especially downtown. The residential and service sector has reached the critical stage of sustainability. Current and new bldgs downtown are moving toward fulfillment and tech factor downtown is multiplying with each new event that has been announced.

All this and more and based on diversity that won't go south depending on who is running the government. And most of all, a real sense of community instead of homesteaders waiting for their contract to run out so they can leave the little cotton town that became a big suburb with no city to call its own.

Well, I've written enough, as I know you don't want to be reminded of the truth. I do have to say though that you guys really do get carried away with that little town, but personally I don't see how you don't get tired of strip centers. I like established urban neighborhoods, of which we have many. But maybe you know that.

Just sayin'

Completely agree with you. Anytime anyone talks favorably about the Huntsville area in their forum, it just grinds my gears!

I say with a Governor like Bently in office , noting good that needs done will get done. He is a terrible money manager. We need someone that will benefit the whole state, and look at the big picture for the growth is exploding here in Huntsville,Madison and the folks from down south are moving here in droves every summer. We need these road projects to keep industry coming and to keep up with the growth that we will continue to see in the next ten years or so. We need Old Madison Pike fixed badly, folks driving there expensive cars going thru tires and shocks like crazy here. I want to see the state as a whole prosper but any excuse for them not to spend money; they will do it. So sad.
