I don't really know what sort of earthquake risk you have in that part of the country so I'm going to pass on that. If you are near the fault line like around St. Louis....yeah, I'd buy it.

However, doesn't that coverage ALSO cover things like mudslides etc. that are not covered under a typical policy? If you are in an area where that can happen then I'd consider it.

These are good questions to ask your agent (re: coverage) and neighbors since they will know the area.

I find that StateFarm is much cheaper on auto insurance. However the Apartment insurance numbers on our coop were pretty close.

Mainly because Allstate will ********* if you ever have your roof damaged due to hail damage.

When my roof was damaged in 2009, every roofer I talked to said that Allstate was the worst for paying for roof damage due to hail.

One roofer in particular (Lewis and Son) said that they keep records on the various insurance companies and Allstate was the worse and Alfa was the best.

Although we had had Allstate for over 25 years, we dropped them like a hot rock after paying the +13K for our new roof. We now have Alfa for our home insurance.

Good luck.
