Why it’s here in this thread is that although she’s with Space Force and not Space Command, she’s saying in her speech that states’ laws (on transgender) are a consideration for selections and assignments of service members under her “organization”. It’s new that any senior leaders consider any state law or laws when making any leadership selections.
who's in charge or lying?

Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall is in charge of making the final decision on Space Command’s location.

According to a report from online military news outlet Stars and Stripes on Monday, Kendall denied reporting that said White House officials were looking to ‘halt plans’ to bring U.S. Space Command to Huntsville over state laws.

“The decision criteria for Space Command have not fundamentally changed,” Kendall told Stars and Stripes. “There is nothing in that decision criteria about state laws, that might be about abortion or gay rights. That is not part of the decision criteria.”

Maybe it's just me - but if service members and contractors can be sent to war zones (Afghanistan, Iraq, etc.), then they should be able to stand being assigned to a state within the United States that has laws and rules that they don't necessarily agree with. Her statement is just silly.

To be fair, LtG Burt was speaking at a LGBT conference and she was talking how she make individual assignments. The waatv made a stretch assumption that she's referring site decision for the Space Command. My personal opinion is that's a stretch, as a military officer she's wise to stay in her own swim lane. As stated, she's Space Force, not Space Command.

this is pretty lame and weak attempt but why not. Throw everything in the bucket and see who they pick. Its obvious DOD policy, GAO selection, site reviews etc. don't matter. If they can't do the correct thing here imagine the cluster of dealing with Chinese troops taking up residence in Cuba.

I didn't see nor have I heard of the WAAY-TV opinion but I think that's exactly what she was referring to, whether she is in the decision-making chain or not.

Oh my goodness. I suppose whoever wrote that article doesn't realize that MSFC is essentially within walking distance of the proposed Redstone site, and there is also the DOD Missile Defense Agency, not to mention some of the best testing facilities in the world, including those for the FBI. I didn't google to see where the article was written, but I assume it was either Dayton or somewhere near Cleveland. I don't know if Ohio was ever in the running.

That a decision still hasn’t been made? Now there’s an investigation into improper use of taxpayer dollars , possibly violating DOD procedures, among other things that people in command may have done illegally. Try and catch up

Default Space command getting new commander

No longer will we quote General Nicholson on his promises of updates on relocating Space Command HQ to Huntsville. News came out recently that LtGen Stephen N. Whiting is going to be the next commander.

https://www.defense.gov/News/Release...announcements/

He is from Mississippi and we sent his entire high school years in Mississippi so maybe he’ll be eager to call Huntsville his new home.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephen_Whiting

Realistically, his entire career has been in Colorado, California or DC. We’ll see but can’t imagine he will feign ignorance on the various studies highlighting Huntsville as the clear choice for the permanent home for Space Command HQ.

But with Senator Tubervilles hold on nominations will this happen anytime soon?
But you could be correct, seems current officials have built up quite a nest egg in Colorado.
Seems also the Air Force is stalling or shuffling around turning over documents to Congress as ordered.

The requirements for a new headquarters have changed with the Department of Defense, the letter stated.

"These apparently sweeping unilateral changes to policies and posture seem to have been made with zero civilian oversight at the Department of Defense," the letter states. "Secretary Kendall also stated that he was unaware who, if anyone, at the Department of Defense approved expenditures of taxpayer funds to unilaterally change the mission or headquarters requirements of SPACECOM."

The letter called on Space Command to stop any "scheme to alter the mission or headquarters requirements."

It also asked Kendall and Gen. James Dickinson, head of Space Command, to provide documents related to changes to mission or headquarters requirements and documents related to updating repairing or modernizing the temporary headquarters since Jan. 2021, among other documentation.
