Every year is an "above average year" .. We always hear " we expect an active season"... Haven't been hit since 05 for all their active seasons its been pretty inactive.

Huh? Do you think their Tropical Atlantic forecast is for a particular backyard? Or are you just saying your location hasnt been active?
How about posting stats on which years were actually active when they said it would be. That would be interesting to read. But just because you didnt get hit doesnt mean it wasnt an active season. You know?
Cambium, I follow your hurricane/weather postings with the maps and projected tracks. Last year I was in FL while my husband was in NY and I saw you following the not-yet-named Sandy. I had three days of non stop wind, which is what seems to happen in our area of the Gulf when fronts go through. it was Sandy's tail sideswiping the Gulf coast.
I told my husband I was following this guy's weather maps and told him there was a strong possibility of a major storm coming and hitting NY. This was five days before anything was on the main stream weather or the news about it.
He's in FL tonight, I'm in NY and he wanted to know what that guy on the internet was saying about Andrea.
Thanks for all the work you do, posting the maps and updates. When there's storms, I look for you now, before the weather sites.
It certainly has been a slow season so far. Looks like weaker wind shear by late weak which would give a better chance for storm development in the near future.

Just saw this... so sorry it took 2 months to see it! Thanks so much for the kind words. I guess that shows how slow the season has been since I rarely come into the Hurricane forum to check in. LOL
Aside from doing it as a passion and interest (Im not a meteorologist) I do it so others are aware and safe of possible situations. I also do it to learn from others. Sometimes pointing out incorrect posts of mine or just reading theirs. There has been so many awesome members recently so it's been fun learning from everyone
Tropics should get active towards end of August. It only takes 1 so stay tuned.
between the Bermuda High sticking around and these troughs digging down into the East, that increases risk for anyone on the East coast from Florida to Maine.

Timing is everything with weather
Cambiumsend a cat 2 hurricane my way please I've been so disappointed these last 8 years.
I've heard that seasons that start later tend to be more dangerous. I don't know if that's true or not.
Some examples are the 1960, 1961, 1998, 1999 and the 2004 hurricane seasons.
