Not going up East coast. This was confirmed 2 days ago by models and remains true since.

I hope they evacuate too along FL and GA coasts. Just drive west couple hours. Hopefully folks boarded up their windows

Thank so much!

I'll be in Florida from the 14th through the 17th, so last night I made hotel reservations to ensure that I'll have a place to stay even if large numbers of people are displaced for a week or longer. Hopefully it doesn't come to that.

On a related note, I'm now predicting that Hurricane Matthew will not make landfall, but will scour the Florida coast with major hurricane conditions from Fort Pierce north to St. Augustine. St. Augustine north to Brunswick will experience minimal hurricane conditions, and Brunswick north to Hilton Head Island will experience tropical storm conditions. Just a hunch based on the path of the hurricane so far. We'll see what happens.

I had to laugh at the tag below the web cam that said "Relax with views of West Palm Beach". Nothing relaxing about the view today.

I hope everyone in the path evacuated and took their pets with them.

My concern is Jacksonville, which hasn't been hit since 1964. Even in a weakened state, there are many homes not up to code plus their inland river system is extensive and very prone to surge.

Good thing about Matthew is that while it is a Cat 4, those winds are concentrated around the core, not the case with Sandy so I don't see the damage being as extensive with Matthew.

Storm surge is often an over looked aspect of hurricanes, even if you're spared the worst winds you may still have to deal with feet of water, I hope people are prepared.
