Same thing happened (sort of) up here in Tri Cities,WA when Dick’s sporting goods took over a former theater complex at Columbia Center. Apparently there is more revenue with retail than movie theaters. However, the Macy’s here still survives.

I’m just glad that the space was able to be filled quickly, I was concerned that Macy’s might sit empty for quite a while.
When Planet Fitness moved into the Poky mall, they occupied a former 2 story anchor. They ran air ducts directly through the second floor space and walled off the elevator and escalator, essensially eliminating use of the upper floor. I dont know if the remaining half of the first ever got put to use either.
I know, different tenant, different developer, different property managers, different city.
I dont think the space Petco is moving out of soon will remain vacant for long either. I'm sure the dealership left behind by Ron Sayer will be put to good use fairly soon as well.

Car dealerships make money almost anywhere they locate. That problem probably lies with customers unfortunately.

School District 91 is proposing The Center For Career & Technical Education in the former Deseret Industries building on E Street. Up to 250 students would use the facility.

I hoped the market could support redevelopment of that site, let alone other downtown properties. Its better than it sitting vacant I guess.

A Utah developer is trying to build over 3000 houses in Ammon on 600 acres. There is a small part (20+/- acres) commercial proposed. Not knowing the location yet my first guess would be a southward expansion, or secondly eastward near the new high school.

I hope this developer has done his research on projected IF growth. I’m sure this person has but 3,000 homes seems a bit grandiose. Perhaps this is a long term build out over a decade or more. Perhaps someone can clarify.

There’s also 200+ townhomes and approximately 15 multi family buildings proposed south of Lincoln, east of Woodruff, extending south behind the Subaru dealership. 35 acres.

There’s an insane amount of housing coming in. I swear every day at work I see a new plat or site plan for a multi family building community.

There is some rumblings about an industrial park going in south of the RCWilley parcel provided they can get annexed into IF. Some major players on that looking to go all the way to 65th South on that side of the river.

Yes its is spaced over about a decade. It would definately make the first development of its size in this region. I suspect they plan to keep pace with other large players like Rockwell
