...and they need to learn to speak ENGLISH. Our politicians should not be catering to those that have no interest in this country other then to take whatever they can get. It is total disrespect that they have no interest in learning English.

It doesn’t surprise me the Democrats would cater to them. They also want felons to have the right to vote.

WHO said that they "have no interest in this country other then to take whatever they can get?" How do you KNOW anything about these other AMERICANS?

They are a large culture in this country. The network is a large venue to reach that audience - to speak to that audience.

If they really had any real interest in this country they would assimilate, they would not be in the streets flying the flag of a foreign country, those that are legal would speak up in defense of America and against illegal immigration that is harming this country and they would not make demands they are not entitled to. There is nothing good you can say about criminal behavior.

How many years was Elvira Arellano benefiting from this country and still had no interest in learning the English language?

Again, you distort and prove your ignorance. Your are generalizing a very large segment of American citizens.

What's the problem? The candidates didn't speak Spanish! (Well, Richardson TRIED to make it an issue, but he was just trying to score cheap points). It was a SPANISH language television show, and if Univision or Telemundo were televising a debate feed NOT sponsored by their own station, guess what?! Translators would have been translating the answers into Spanish anyway!

Actually, they want EX-felons to be able to vote and I agree with them. Once a person has done their time and/or probation or parole and is staying out of trouble and contributing to society by working and payine their taxes they should be able to vote. That is my opinion of course.

Actually what they want is for felons (not ex) to vote, even those in prison. That is why they (liberals) say felons are disenfranchised. Democrats want felons and illegal immigrants to have the right to vote.

the problem is that naturalized citizens (i.e., the only foreign-born persons legally permitted to vote, with the exception of children of members of the armed services and diplomatic corps serving abroad) have to pass an english proficiency exam before they can take the oath of citizenship. therefore, anyone legitimately exercising the franchise should already be able to understand english well enough to grasp the sound-bites in which politicians speak, either because they were born here and it is their first language, or because they learned it in order to gain citizenship (among other reasons, i would imagine). there should be no reason to conduct presidential debates in any language other than english, unless the candidates anticipate that persons not authorized to vote will be doing so, and they are pandering to that fraudulent constituency.

^ again they didn't debate in Spanish they just translated their answers! If any of you saw the debate (which I seriously doubt) the audience at hand was either bilingual or English speakers only since there was applause after the canidate's responses. It seems some of you are just angry that the canidates addressed hispanics. Why not complain about the other debates that cater to other groups?

Maybe there's a lot of immigrants who are TRYING to learn English, but aren't proficient enough to comprehend a political debate in a second language (how many of you could do that, by the way)? I mean COME ON, Jesus Bartholomeu Christ is it really that big of a deal?
