I'm noticing a strange pattern among the anti-enforcement crowd: They like to claim that few people care about illegal immigration, that they don't care about illegal immigration, then they put forth a good deal of effort trying to convince us that our position is wrong...Why?

If I believed that few people gave any importance to illegal immigration and if I didn't really care about it, I certainly wouldn't waste my time blogging about it.

Maybe, there's something they're not telling us...

In a nutshell: Race.

The extreme left sees everything through race tinted glasses. Whitey (and white America) = Bad. Everyone else = Good. That about sums it up.

Bottom line: a lot more Americans are pissed off now-----------trust me on that.

And; like Greatday, I too live in Arizona.

Same pattern; different tactics.

The pro illegal crowd are grasping at straws because they are losing the battle for public opinion-----------big time.

Unlike the Civil Rights marches of two generations ago; the more and more the illegals and their enablers are being televised, the harder the attitudes are becoming against the latter.

Most people who are educated do not care about this issue because it is an issue that is majorly overblown. Read what Greenspan and Bernanke have said about immigration, both have favorable opinions on it.

The long-run impact of immigration on public budgets is likely to be positive with marginal deadweight loss in the short run. Unfortunately, most people who are passionate against immigration are your ignorant, uneducated hillbillies that never read an economical report in their lives and have absolutely no brains to even figure out what is really going on.

The revenue lost in the short term due to non-taxation of illegals is far surpassed by gains that result from the decrease in the final price of certain goods and services. Because they lack the ability to approach this issue analytically, they fail to understand the long run benefits of immigration. Thank God for places like DC, California and New York where you actually have highly educated people in charge that truly understand fiscal, monetary policy and the long run economical impact of immigration.

Thank God, the Bubbas are not in charge of this country, otherwise they would probably be at the border declaring war on Mexico. That is what truly motivates me to continue to post here It is a fight against ignorance.

You may be onto something there: most White 'Hispanics' (along with growing numbers of Blacks, etc), when push comes to shove, identify with the dominant WASP culture whereas the Mestizo and especially Indian Latinos attract the most sympathy from the pro illegal crowd apparently.

Nvxplorer, I think you have a point in that race is the underlying issue that keeps the media, politicians, and some Americans from saying anything against illegal immigration.

But, at the personal evel, there's no reason for someone to sit on a message board blogging about an issue they don't believe matters much. People don't do that. It doesn't make sense to spend your time blogging about an issue that doesn't really matter to you. When was the last time you found yourself blogging about miniature ponies, the face on Mars, or a new knit-stitch just for the h*ll of it?

Thanks. We really appreciate you coming in here and "fighting against ignorance". I'm just an educated ole hillbilly from Boston, so what do I know?
