Nvxplorer, I think you have a point in that race is the underlying issue that keeps the media, politicians, and some Americans from saying anything against illegal immigration.
It's not only race. It's also culture and class. American culture = bad. Everything else = good. Poor people = superior. Not-so-poor people = inferior.

Well, the intents of bloggers really isn't a high priority for me.
Someone's intentions provide a context for the information they provide and the validity of their statements. Obviously, a person's basic level of honesty has to be called into question if he/she claims not to care about an issue then spends time blogging about it. It's also not possible to have an honest debate with someone who has a hidden agenda.
You waste your time trying to convince them that illegal immigration is important to most Americans when, in fact, they already know that. That's why they're on this board;-)

Most people who are educated do not care about this issue because it is an issue that is majorly overblown. Read what Greenspan and Bernanke have said about immigration, both have favorable opinions on it.
The long-run impact of immigration on public budgets is likely to be positive with marginal deadweight loss in the short run. Unfortunately, most people who are passionate against immigration are your ignorant, uneducated hillbillies that never read an economical report in their lives and have absolutely no brains to even figure out what is really going on.
The revenue lost in the short term due to non-taxation of illegals is far surpassed by gains that result from the decrease in the final price of certain goods and services. Because they lack the ability to approach this issue analytically, they fail to understand the long run benefits of immigration. Thank God for places like DC, California and New York where you actually have highly educated people in charge that truly understand fiscal, monetary policy and the long run economical impact of immigration.
Thank God, the Bubbas are not in charge of this country, otherwise they would probably be at the border declaring war on Mexico. That is what truly motivates me to continue to post here It is a fight against ignorance.

And yes, getting out of Iraq to early will only cause a major issue for us in the long run, but the tree huggers who voted to send them to Iraq could say it was a failure.
Now, on the illegal immigaration, same issue, they care more for the illegals because of their socialist ways of thinking then they do for their own soldiers.

Romney is right, deport them all and start over. One way ticket out and they cannot ever come back because they broke our laws getting here.

For the record: I am not letting the Republicans off the hook either--------Reagan signed the Amnesty Act in 1986 and too, Bush and Co. held both Houses of Congress from 2001-06 during which time the illegal immigration became a flood.
NOTE: I am a registered Republican as well.
Bottom line: there is plenty of blame to go around on both sides.
According to polls most Democratic Voters do not think that illegal immigration is an important issue.
It's because most democrats want illegal immigration. Most love it because for years now the children of illegal immigrants grow up to be predominately democrats. Something like 75% of them become democrats. This gives the democrats an ever increasing edge in congress with every year that passes.
