To be honest, this doesn't any different than any of the "Black" areas of this country either. It's really any Black or Hispanic area.

I've never seen any Asian/immigrant communities like the above though.

If anything, it shows why we shouldn't import more of these people when we already have enough.

Probably not and Samuel Hunting discusses this in one of his papers on immigration. Previous immigrants had to assimilate but this wave, due to the massive numbers and the amount of Spanish-areas across the country, one literally does not even need to learn English anymore.

Lol? It shows nothing. The entire Southwest territory taken from Mexico during the war had a population of around 50,000, the majority of whom were Spanish settlers. Certainly nothing like the millions we have coming in today.

Of course, your investment in feeling superior would be mightily challenged and it might be too painful... The nativist Americans try to keep out the Italians and now the Italians try to keep out the Mexicans using the exact same reasoning. It's really very funny when you think about it. Oh, and there is nothing "silly" about
comparing era's. It's called 'historical context' and without it nothing means anything.
On what basis are these statements made? Explain why you think he is wrong.

macmeal's trump card would be that the Italians as a group were (almost) always legal whereas many of the Mexicans/Central Americans are illegal immigrants.

Every post I have put in this thread lists facts and where anyone can find them--if they want to.

Immigrants lower living standards. America is overpopulated. +100% growth since 1950.
Demographics of the United States - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Immigration = zero economic benefit for the silent majority.

It's a forced / imposed transfer of wealth from your pockets to other countries and the ruling class.

I have little or no problem with legal immigration------provided it is properly monitored. Best analogy would be the person controlling downstream water flows from a series of dams/reservoirs along a major river.

Illegal immigration; OTOH-------that needs to be dealt with via employer sanctions laws, tighter enforcement of at least our border with Mexico and elminating birthright citizenship for US born children if both of their parents are illegals.

If they came before 1924 there were no exclusions except the Chinese and Asian Indians.
It was "whites only" for naturalization. There is no trump card--legality was based on race.
Then in 1924 they realized they made a mistake and let in far too many Italians, Southern and Eastern Europeans and made a quota system to stem the tide. Actually they realized their mistake well before then they just couldn't get the act passed till 1924.

Well, then maybe some Americans should not whine about their declining purchasing power and wars for natural resources if they want to welcome another 200 million people by 2050.

America is like a Third World family with 3 kids planning another three, and complaining about economic hard times.

I'd call it the "African syndrome."

If "silly" history repeats itself there will be a time when Mexican "illegal immigration" will be known as the "golden age of immigration". People will look back at those early Mexican "illegals" as the salt of the earth. No one will remember the hostility towards them that was prevalent. The descendants of Mexicans will take it ill if anyone should suggest they were not wanted and welcomed with open arms. Then those decscendants will slander whoever the new arrivals are and complain about their inability to speak English. They will ruthlessly defend their own right to be here and make the exact same arguments about the newbies that were made against them.

And by the way I am not for uncontrolled immigration but I want my reasons to come from what I do know, not from my ignorance or wishful thinking.

And so it goes... What we don't remember we are bound to repeat. Ciao and Adios!

"We have been God-like in our planned breeding of our domesticated plants and animals, but we have been rabbit-like in our unplanned breeding of ourselves."
Toynbee, Arnold Joseph English historian (1889-1975)

"The human overpopulation issue is the topic I see as the most vital to solve if our children and grandchildren are to have a good quality of life."
Alexandra Paul

"Depopulation should be the highest priority of U.S. foreign policy towards the Third World."
Henry Kissinger
