Read Gov. Abbott's letter.

How does a state not have a right to block unlawful border crossing at unprotected borders between the state and a foreign power, while being "actually invaded" to the tune of 10,000 unlawful crossings per day?
Abbott is a worthless piece of garbage with zero understanding of law, despite his law degree.

Texas cannot stop the Federal government from dealing with people setting foot on US soil on a land border. If Abbott doesn't like the way the Feds are doing things, he is free to write letters, just like the rest of us. He is not free to deploy the Texas National Guard to interfere with Federal border enforcement. Abbott is wasting billions of Texas tax dollars on this boondoggle that is only intended to stroke his ego and make his political base salivate. Nothing Abbott is doing will solve the issue of illegal immigration. He's already said he wants to shoot border crossers. Next up, he will order the Guard to toss them into the water during the cold weather over the next few day.

As for the letter, Texas is not being invaded as envisaged by the Constitution.

Texas has zero authority to take an illegal immigrant into custody as soon as they hit us soil. that is strictly a Federal responsibility. States have no ability to determine whether any immigrant is illegal or not. State officials are not qualified to determine the immigration or asylum status of anyone.
Wrong! Abbott is acting in a way to benefit people of all colors, and there are a heck of a lot of "brown" people in TX that agree with him. Do you really think he could win an election if he hated "brown" people? Hispanics are 40% of TX and white alone is 39%. Do the math! Citizens don't want illegal aliens destroying our country, which is exactly what they are doing! They are literally taking the food out of them mouths of some of our needy citizens.

"Article IV, Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution provides for the protection of states “against invasion,” and Article I, Section 10 reserves the right of states to defend themselves."

You are right that the federal government is not doing their job, as this is their job, which is why I do not understand why Biden isn't being impeached on this, failing to uphold his oath!

"It is clear that the Biden administration has no interest in pursuing the federal policies necessary to secure the southern border. Therefore, given the federal government’s dereliction of duty, it is now incumbent on governors and states to fill the void and do what federal officials and lawmakers refuse to do: end the invasion at the U.S. southern border and restore both order and sovereignty."

There are people here who walk the walk but don't talk the talk. The response of no one has to take them in just shows their lack of commitment to their belief and the fact they don't really care about the illegals but just want to argue and make themselves believe that they are right and everyone else is wrong.

Neither of the sections of the Constitution you mention apply in this situation.

300 million immigrants were allowed into our country? Well, for one thing this is the illegal immigration forum and there aren't 300 million of them here. I wonder if that was a typo and he/she meant 30 million which would be far more accurate. When all else fails though these pro-illegals pull the race/skin color card just like clockwork.

Well, you got your answer ... NIMBY. Is anyone surprised?

If they want them here so badly then they should take them in and care for them.

Keeping messing with Texans, who don’t see kindly to dereliction of duty that imperils their state.

Texas is being invaded, pure and simple and a fifth column from within is perpetrating it. I would love to see Biden try and wrest away the Texas National Guard from Texas. lol

Those in power in DC wouldn’t dare.

No typo. I said that if the Federal Government decided to let 300 million immigrants into the country, there is zero the states could do about it. States do not enforce national borders. That's a Federal function.
