Here is a NY Times article entitled, "Illegal Immigrants Are Bolstering Social Security With Billions." Read it. You might, MIGHT, learn something. If you can read it with an open mind, that is.

As the debate over Social Security heats up, the estimated seven million or so illegal immigrant workers in the United States are now providing the system with a subsidy of as much as $7 billion a year.

It is impossible to know exactly how many illegal immigrant workers pay taxes. But according to specialists, most of them do.

If that is true then keeping it to cover their social costs here is justified. It is ill gotten booty anyway. My argument is mostly for the rule of law and the right to retain our soverignty and secure borders and no amount of postive or negative arguments associated with illegal immigration will sway me from that being my main objection. This has created a corrupt and greedy employer problem and the corrupt politiicans who are backing them. Population growth is another factor from uncontrolled immigration.

It is a documented fact, that the illegal alien parasites, suck more than they contribute. By a long shot!

Does the article explain how the unemployed legal workers would be paying into SS had their jobs not be stolen?

Does the article take into account those same unemployed legal workers are now having to receive government funds through services like unemployment money or food stamps?

<<...and provide charity care and other care for which no payment is received.
Total uncompensated Care Costs (in billions), 1998-2006

200631.2%200528.8%200426.9%200324.9%200222.3%200121.5%200021.6%199920.7%199819.0%
Source: Avalere Health analysis of 2006 American Hospital Association Annual Survey data for community hospitals.>>

Those numbers aren't 'costs in billions,' they're percentages.

Let's look at 2006---31.2% uncompensated care---Of that 31.2%, 90% could be illegal aliens, so even if the overall non-payers amounted to 31.2 %, a majority of those could be illegal aliens. To look at it another way, if 100 people received treatment, and 31 of those didn't pay, 29 of the 31 could be illegal aliens. So just because most people pay, doesn't mean most illegal aliens pay.

He may be right, Andreabeth---It seems to me he's 'shearing' the facts.

You say "90% (of uncompensated health care) could be illegal aliens." Where do you get this? Are you just pulling this figure out of the air? (Or out of somewhere else, maybe?)

In fact, around 18% of ALL working age people in the U.S. are uninsured:
Quote:
Several studies estimate the number of uninsured Americans. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, nearly 46 million Americans, or 18 percent of the population under the age of 65, were without health insurance in 2007, their latest data available.1
Nat'l Coalition on Health (http://www.nchc.org/facts/coverage.shtml - broken link)
This doesn't seem consistent with your "90%" statement, does it?

Maybe I didn't explain myself well enough.

I believe there are around 12 million illegals in the U.S. (Is this about right?) How can these 12 million people account for 90% of unpaid medical costs when there are 46 million people uninsured in the U.S.? Wouldn't the uncompensated care due to illegals be comensurate with the percent of those 46 million who are illegal aliens? Something like 12/46 or about 25%, instead of your 90%. This figure may even be less if some of the illegals have health insurance or paid for at least a portion of their medical care in cash.

I suspect that you, and many in this thread, simply hate illegal aliens so much that you are eager to blame all sorts of woes on them.

Wow, not only was that completely stupid posting that (seeing how it really does not pertain). It goes to show you that those people that pick up on 1 mistake that does not pertain to the conversation, simply lack argument skills.

I find it ironic that you are telling me that I'm playing with facts, when you are simply making up figures.

Please show some proof that 90% of uncompensated care went to illegal immigrants...esp when illegal immigrants comprise 20-25% of the uninsured population.
