The sales tax is 1% lower in KY; but most of the people I know in Henderson drive to Evansville to do most of their non-essential shopping and eating. Henderson is starting to get more entertainment options; but make no mistake about it, you still have to drive to Evansville for a lot of that stuff.

The cost of vehicle registration is pretty close in each state if memory serves; no idea about the property taxes.

In that case I can't see why someone would want to live in Kentucky to commute to E-vile.

==========================================

There's a difference in the feel of the towns, in that Henderson is about 30,000, so it really is the sort of place where you know a lot of people and has a small-town feel. If you're from there, you might stay instead of moving to Evansville.

But I agree, coming form out of the area, unless someone has ties to Henderson, there's really no advantage.

Good, practical advice!

Default Cheap Electricity In Henderson, KY

Retail electric rates in the Henderson, KY city limits are app. 1/3 the electric rates of Vectren in the Evansville area ($.053 vs. $.143). This means for the average 1000 kWh per month usage with a air source heat pump, which are common in this area for heating and cooling, you will save app. $90. Serious money in today's tight economy.

It gets even better if you have an electric car and charge it at such low rates. A 20 mile RT commute from Henderson to Evansville in a Nissan Leaf is app. 32 cents! Cha Ching!
