I always thought to work in one state that you had to have an ID for that state.

Davie, I had a brain freeze. You need a PICTURE ID and a Social Security card. The best ID for that is a state issued DL. It doesn't have to be Nevada license.

But with on line or telephone claims filing I don't think anyone will ask for it unless there is a question about eligibility. You could file a Nevada UI Claim (or a claim on any state where you have base period wages) from any state, U.S. possession, or even Canada, as long as you have an address and are looking for work.

Nope. Not at all. ESD doesn't police for the DMV or any other agency. But they might point it out to you that you are breaking the law by driving in Nevada without a Nevada DL if you live here. But they can't turn you in or refuse your UI.

Nevada does require a Nevada ID for CEP services. That's a program for work related training for Nevadans only. It is paid for only by Nevada employers and tacked onto their UI "Contributions". They actually asked for it a long time ago in order to maintain a trained work force in Nevada. J.C. Penny started it, so it is sometimes referred to by old timers at ESD as the J.C. Penny Law.
