"March 8, 2012 12:10 Strip Revenue Continues to Rise: According to the latest figures released by the Gaming Control Board, Las Vegas Strip gambling revenue was up 29 percent to $623.5 million in January, compared to the same month last year, while revenue for all of Clark County increased 22 percent to $925.5 million. The steep rise was aided largely by a surge in baccarat winnings, as a result of Chinese New Year (excluding that game, statewide revenue for the month increased 4 percent.)

Visitation in January was also up slightly to nearly 3.2 million, just under 1% more than came during the same month last year. Average hotel rates, meanwhile were up more than 6%."

SHUSH!!!! Let me buy a house first...THEN the prices can go up

There is quite a bit of building going on around town. 2 (two?) Ferris wheels, the big water park, Mtn View hospital is putting on a new wing. It really does look like things are getting better

Now if the price of gas can play along, we should be good. Its difficult to build stuff when your fuel bill alone is $5,000 a day!

Basically they just made it clear February numbers are going to suck, but still things seem to be inching upwards.

This article address's how gaming revenues are calculated and when they are calculated month to month. This is important to know so when you hear if gaming is doing bad or good you will be able to recognize if it really is good news or how bad really is.

Since gaming is our biggest source of revenue and employer, as a potential home owner you will want to know this because it affects how our city is maintained and our schools and opportunity for employment.

I don't share this information to discourage you but to help you make informed decisions.

With gaming win hitting $1 billion in January, have Las Vegas’ high-rolling days returned?

Great article You are the only realtor on here who posts the truth which I at least appreciate. I personally get pissed off at the polyanna's on this forum who post ridiculous green shoots. GET IT THROUGH YOUR THICK SKULL PEOPLE, THERE IS NO RECOVERY!

So, as people are walking away non-US residents are buying to retire and frankly we're tired of the hotels that we have been staying at for the last 30 years. Now we have a condo, can still gamble and keep the $ up at casinos, and we spending all our paycheques and pension $$ from Canada (ourselves and 6 other couples we know) every time we come down now until the day we retire. In Las Vegas, we've all bought new furniture, patio furniture, appliances, groceries, liquor, and pay for tv/internet/phone lines when we're not even there except for the odd weeks throughout the year. We pay or HOA, Nevada Electric and SW Energy. We tip our servers and bartenders good and we don't care to drive so we pay and tip our taxi drivers good as we zip around LV and back home. Perhaps we'll assist the economy so it can't be all bad although you guys must feel somewhat invaded. More and more of our friends from Western Canada are buying as we speak..:-)

Not according to Las Vegas Relators trying to sell the public on the "bottom" and offering ”full purchase price” because inventory is flying off the shelves.
