Hey guys,

I am new to Las Vegas and I got a great job, hence the move.
I am currently living a mile away from the strip, paying 500$ rent, which I love.

I love my apartment, it is big and the management is super nice...
However, I keep hearing it is unsafe to live where I am...I have noticed the people that walk on the streets are ghetto and look like they are on drugs...But my apartment seems safe...been here for a week now and it is mostly quiet at night...i have installed a metal security door to my apartment (2nd floor)...

but is it enough? should i move? and where to?
I can't afford 800$ a month....what areas or apartments are safe and maybe in the 600$ range?

THANKS!!!

So what is the problem? Don't worry about what other people say.

if you feel safe then by all means stay where you're at. Which apartments do you live at now? seems like a good place worth mentioning.

This brings up an interesting concept: is it better to "feel" safe or to be safe even if your neighborhood doesn't look like it? There are many neighborhoods in Las Vegas that may be perfectly safe, but not look like it, and conversely, there are some neighborhoods here that look at fresh, new and "safe" yet have a high incidents of crime. I bet a majority of people here would unwittingly choose the latter, and not even realize it.

Probably someone living in Summerlin right now feeling unsafe while someone living behind the Stratosphere is feeling as safe as they can be.

So you have been in the apt for a little over a week and already installed a steel security door?
There is something wrong with this picture......

^that guys got it made. I always wondered about those tunnel people. It looks like it takes the width of the tunnel so people behind him have to go through his space to get to theirs right?

Who wants to make a day trip out of finding out?
