I think people ignore a crucial piece...the hype. It's like NYC or LA. A lot people hate the people from these places but still want to visit. On a global scale this is similar to the USA. People may not like this or that but the still want to visit the "states". I think that helps us out in relation to Macau. Not in 20years that may change but for now we're good.

This I've never heard of. If it's just one casino in Cambodia, it will probably do well, but it'll probably be a while before it could be in a issue for Vegas. It might become an issue for Macau. But Macau has become pretty developed, with several major casinos. It can suck a good chunk of the asian whale business from Vegas, just due to its easier access.

I agreed with you on the custom and courtesies of the country. That was it. That has nothing to do with all the other things you have beef with. Myself and none of the other dozen plus contractors I personally know experienced "condescending and arrogant" people over there. Matter of fact, I even have contractor friends that vacation over there. Yes it is true that the men wear dresses, have long beards, keep their women covered up, don't hug or kiss in public(even though I have seen it), treat pork like it is a virus and listen to traditional music 24/7(even though I have heard hip hop on a radio station over there)...So what?

I asked you a simple question and you took offense(couldn't even answer it). So what is really your beef?

Either you experienced something yourself or you read, heard, watched on TV about it. Simple right?

Dubai isn't a threat to Vegas, however Macau is in a way. Asian tourists are spending their gambling bucks there instead of here. In fact it's the gaming revenues in Macau that is helping supplement Vegas. Check out the link below.

Macau gambling revenue up 21.4 percent in Sept yr/yr - Yahoo Finance

The other issues is the Tribal reservations and other states that have gambling, all of these different venues haven't helped Vegas that's for sure.

Macau and Vegas will be better choice.

I was in Dubai when almost all of the entire world's cranes were there (2006), right before the economy dived. Unfortunately, I only spent a day and a half there...

It exceeded my expectations, very modern and lots of things to do there. I didn't get a chance to do the indoor skiing nor see the huge "islands of the world"... but I did go on a sand dunes safari and it was thrilling!

Again, I wish I had more time there to checkout the beaches and resorts

I doubt Vegas and Dubai would compete for business as I feel they are very very different and on opposite sides of the world.

Even Macau. Vegas's revenue is shifting from being reliant on gaming to other forms of non-gaming entertainment (shows, restaurants, etc). You can't get that in Macau

I felt like I had nothing to do in Macau but gamble. That and eat delicious, authentic Chinese/Portuguese food.

Also, Wynn get's the bulk of their income from their Macau operations. As does Venetian. I'm sure MGM also does well there.
