The problem with that will be where to get the water for the trucks...It is all the distributors that have the targets. So who will have a source for water that is not limited?

Here's some good news and not so good news. The upper basin states ( Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, New Mexico ) have not used all of their allotment in the past but are now wanting to claim their share.

Taking more water from the Colorado River’s upper basin | jfleck at inkstain

Halfway through June, another million acre feet on the Colorado River | jfleck at inkstain

And there is still a tribe or two in there that has a right to a million AF or so...And they will be into eventually if they can figure out a beneficial use for the water.

Hmmm... there're probably some good business opportunities there. I wonder if the tribes are looking into it.

I have worked it a little. But not an open internet subject. I think it really tricky. You are going to fail and have to figure out how to get paid when it does not work...

Hopefully we'll be in a good El Nino pattern this fall and winter. I cant imagine what it might look like with another 5 years of sub normal snow pack.

I hope to be out of here by then. Because I predict that within five years, we'll be looking back on today wistfully.

Another interesting graph on the drought in New Mexico that also pertains to the whole southwest. 3 years out of the last 16 were at or above normal for precipitation.

New Mexico: kinda wet lately, but…. | jfleck at inkstain

Yeah, in another five years we will all be 5 years older, assuming we don't go to the big round-up in the sky.

As for Vegas, we will have plenty of water in 5 years regardless of what happesn to AZ or CA. Just ask lvoc.
