Folks,

Happy thanksgiving! Could anyone tell me which area in Summerlin has the neighborhood? I am thinking to move to either henderson or summerlin. For henderson, I know Green valley ranch is the best area: Vand, Miller, Coro are all best school.

Summerlin is so big, which area has best neighborhood with best public schools? Thanks!

Anyplace you want. There are no weak elementary or middle schools in Summerlin.

You have to pick whether you want new and shiny or more established. Check with the particular schools in new and shiney...while there are no bad schools there may be overcrowded ones.

For new and shiney head south and west. For established head north.

In GV Ranch make sure that you are in Vandenburg or Twitchell. There are others. OK but not of the top 10%

I don't think you can quantify which area is the best without giving your criteria? Is it test scores? median household income? proximity to Starbucks? Something is only better if it's better for your specific needs.

OP implies a standard...GV Vand is good. From that one can presume top 10% on income and schools. That is reasonably easy if you are comparing Summerlin with Summerlin. School quality is relatively uniform. Housing runs a four or five to one ratio but does not generally cooridinate with the schools. Or said the other way...the schools are all quite strong and each have a wide range of incomes in their zone.

The thing bothering me is Summerlin is so big. Is there general rule such as: west of Rainbow, north of tropicana, etc? I'm looking for houses, so I at least should know where I start from.

I think good neigborhood means nice people with education, average-high income, family oriented, cultured. I know henderson has symphony of henderson. That's nice. Don't need to be super rich, I am not super rich person.

Start at the old areas. From Lake Mead and Rampart proceed west and south. Drive through a couple of tracts. Then try up the hill. Say start at Anasazi and Banbury Cross..one block to south of Summerlin Parkway...Head up to Laurel Glen...try a few.

You now have some view of the more mature parts.

Head south to Charleston. Cut out past the 215. Take a right at one of the big entrances and prowl around. Now you have seen one of the newer sections.

Head on down Town Center further south. Check out the new places.

Pick the section you like best and explore it more fully.

Other than that..acquire a dart board. Go past the Summerlin office and get a map. Affix map to dartboard and step back 10 feet. Throw dart. You now have your starting point.

And if it does not appeal run back to GV.

I live in the Vistas outside the beltway in Summerlin. We have some of the best views of the Spring Mountains and the red rock mountains (Rainbow Mtn, etc.) you can get on this side of the city (much better views than from Red Rock CC or Siena or Bear's Best CC. Good views down onto the Strip as well, from certain roads. We have three great neighborhood parks, two with outdoor fountains for kids in the summer. Access to shopping is fantastic and easy. RR Casino is a minute away. Very little auto traffic in the neighborhoods. Beautiful landscaping along the roads. It is very refreshing to come home every evening and see all this, and on the weekends you want to get outside and walk your dog (or your wife) to enjoy the views again. And it's cooler up here in the summer than in the valley.

Thank you. This is very helpful. I like cooler air in the summer. Kingwood Crossing and Kingwood knoll are currently selling in affordable price. I think I will check it out and hope getting some discount.
