That's hard to believe, that a 2002 PT Cruiser needs a new transmission so soon. I have my 1985 Toyota Supra, with 148K miles on it and the transmission is as strong as ever! It does leak transmission oil, but my brother, who's a mechanic, just tells me to make sure there's enough transmissio fluid. Were you watching the transmission fluid level?

Since I never take my car out of town for long trips, and opt for a rental car, I rented one of those PT Cruisers in 2004 to go to Yuma and I wasn't impressed with the car at all, it had no passing power on all those 2-lane roads going down there and back!

Once, out of curiosity, and being proactive, I asked my mechanic what it would cost if I needed a new transmission for my Supra and he guesstimated $1500. Stack that up against the cost of another car. And when I bought my 85 Toyota in 2002, I automatically figured on spending $3k to get it up to par. It did need a partial valve job at the time, which I knew when I bought it, and that cost me $850, got by cheap, and it hasn't burned oil since and it just passed its smog test last week!

It's a chrysler. Notorious for transmissions and head gaskets in the neons, pts, stratus', and caravans. Transmission rebuilt approx 1500. Cost or repair exceeds the value of the car by far. Does the car still move at all pink? Might be interested in it for parts.

It goes backwards. that's about it. if the transmission is only $1500, we may just do that instead. I guess we didn't buy the car for passing power,,we got it because we liked the way it looked. Like an old 1940's car. We bought it used in late 2004, it already had about 60,000 miles on it back then.

Sorry about your PT Cruiser. They have been poor performers since they were designed.
We are not interested in an Altima. I saw what it looks like, and not our style. My husband needs a car with lots of cargo room. We are going to see if either Doctor Auto or Carl(Teach1234) can fix it for a reasonable price. The Doctor Auto that someone recommended on here awhile back, there is a location on Ann/Simmons if they are still in business, so that would be easier to have the car towed to. Versus clear across town to Carls place. unless the towing is free.

Have you considered the possibility that she may be interested in a 3-way type of interaction? After all, most girls don't go out of their way to introduce their new boyfirend to their old one...and you two are the ones who I would assume know her intimately.

C'mon...the signs are all there...she could have brought you to lunch in any of a thousand places in LV...but she chose In-N-Out Burger!

Next you'll tell me she ordered extra mayo on her burger!
