Fair enough, but a voluntary position you must enjoy?

You might not care, but calling someone's interests or beliefs "a load of crap" is rarely appreciated. Why can't you say you don't believe in it and leave it at that?

Who called someone else's beliefs a load of crap? I was stating my OPINION. That is the problem with the internet, people take other people's opinions as a personal attack.

Someone stating their opinion has nothing to do with anyone except the person making the statement. if someone takes that personally, that is on them.

You really need to say a "load of crap" to articulate your opinion? No.

Incredible that anyone could believe such a statement. What is the intent of "load of crap" in rendering your opinion? What purpose does it serve other than to incite offense?

The problem "with the internet" isn't people getting offended--it's people abandoning courtesy and tact because there are no consequences.

Well, yes, actually...that's how I talk, here and in "real life." You don't have to like it, and if you don't it doesn't bother me, it's your opinion and you are entitled to it. I do not take it personally .

I don't personally believe in astrology, but I have a (possibly) interesting story around it.

A friend's son is now in his late 40s. Let's call him "Bob." He's a bright guy, having earned a PhD in History from a major university. He thought he would spend his career as a professor at a major research university, but his passion for academics faded, never to return.

Bob bounced around for a while doing odd jobs while he spent some time thinking about and researching a business that he might go into. He settled on astrology. He started a newsletter and launched a website, writing weekly horoscopes. He started doing custom astrological charts and consultations ($250/hr). He launched a syndicated column appearing in a handful of publications around the globe.

Then Bob went into retail, opening a store in a tourist-y location, selling all manner of things associated with astrology. He expanded into areas he thought might be adjacent to astrology -- areas he hoped might be of interest to his customers, including magic potions, spells, charms, magic crystals, essential scents, spiritual charts, etc, etc, etc.

Bob makes a pretty good living.
