I think it is just peoples' normal response to living in an increasingly more difficult to live in financially.
Those who benefit from the status quo of great govt benefits want to maintain it at all costs, those who are being harmed by it want it controlled better so they can continue to live here.
All of these threads should be thrown in the Sticky thread where they cannot affect the rest of the site.
I would say the mods did a good job by creating that sticky but discussing mod actions is against the rules.

They have an entire political forum for City-Data. Problem is people who love talking politics actually believe their neighborhood political issues are so unique, they deserve to be posted in regional forums.

FWIW The Tea Party is huge in RP.
Its actually where the Brookhaven Conservative Party and TOBs only Conservative council seat are based.
(National Independence party is based out lil ol' RP too.)
