Twingles I didnt say anything about the quality of Hicksville's schools. I said they are diverse. And there isnt really correlation between diversity and school quality. Just bc a school is diverse, doesnt mean it's bad.

Trust us, they know and it is not an accident that things are that way.

Most LIers are not really racist, but diversity in neighborhoods and schools are things that they prefer to see happen elsewhere, not in their town/school.

I will say Wantagh is pretty white, but Bellmore isnt like a crazy amount one way or another. I dont care what the figures say- they arent accurate bc not everyone chooses to fill out the census. Spend a day in Bellmore- it's up there with diversity.

I would say Hicksville is diverse as well. Lots of Indians, but lots of whites and other races too.
Don't trust the census, trust you? I'm done

For the sake of discussion, I did simplify it. Not all Caucasians are the same ethnicity-- but the same thing goes for black people, Asians, and any other race.

Diversity and integration are not the same. We had this same discussion last year, so I won't hash it out again.

Anywhoo, this thread has jumped the shark. Those who love Long Island will stay, and those who don't will leave. I'm done.

The best districts will be 90%s with whites and asians combined... many as high as 97, 98+ %.

Socioeconomics at its best - just the way LIers like it.

"Continually slammed" or just not recommended as much due to merit? Jericho and RVC are both "diverse" districts according to your definitions ( <80% white) and they get nothing but praises on LI - and rightfully so.
So much for that theory.

North Bellmore and Bellmore/South Bellmore are totally different in their ethic make-up. I never said Bellmore is the most diverse town on LI but my block only had 2 white families on it and one was from Russia. So growing up for me it was very diverse. Look at a yearbook from Mepham- lots of different colour faces.

the entire diversity point is nonsense at best. way to grab hold of a stupid comment and beat it to death....why dont you expats try and tell us how nice the weather is down there. if the weather in NY today was like this for 6 months, imagine how many more people would be murdered.

You don't write like you even grew up or were educated in America, let alone Bellmore. You are always using the Queen's English spellings in your posts. We really have no idea where you're actually from. Your description of Bellmore as racially diverse is the only one of its kind I've ever heard on LI.

My mom is from England- I got it from her. If I didnt grow up on LI, how would I know so much about it? Roads and where towns are etc etc- obv I live here.

Bellmore is more diverse than places like Wantagh and Massapequa.

And how did it affect your grades in spelling and English and on written papers throughout your tenure as a student on Long Island and in college in America? It is unusual that someone living in America ignored and refused to learn American spellings in favor of using the spellings of a parent from a foreign country. I have never seen that before from any other person whose parents came from a place where they used the Queen's English. Were your early childhood school years spent in England?
