All you have to do is give your address and leave a credit card on file. They will charge your CC when they file. Caveat, they won't file a SCAR (small claims assessment review) if you get a 0 reduction. Most of the other grievance firm will file a SCAR because their fee is percentage base and not a flat fee.

And it's been my recent experience that many grievances require SCAR because Towns turn down most initial grievances (unless the overassessment is egregious).

Huntington denied my 2021 even with a sale price that was $136k under assessed value with a appraisal all falling during the proper dates for the grievance year. Still waiting to find out when my scar date is. I was told by the grievance co should be this summer.

this is my first grievance and most my neighbors with similar or bigger houses pay about 3 4000 less than what i am paying.

mine is around 18k for a 1400sqft ranch.
others are paying 15 ish.

so i mean no one knows the result but you are recommending that i go somewhere else? or i wouldnt get grieved because its my first time?.

sorry but what is SCAR?

I assume you live in Nassau! that's a sickening amount of $$ for a house that size. Guy across the street has a 1600 sq ft cape on 1/2 acre and he pays 7k. Yes we are in Suffolk but its a 4 min drive to Nassau county.

small claims assessment review (SCAR). When the township or county denies your claim you go to court and challenge it. IIRC its $30-$40 to file
